Social Media Ban for Under-16s

Bible verse:
“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” (Proverbs 2:6, NIV)

Give thanks and pray for wisdom

Give thanks for a renewed focus on protecting children and reconsidering the impact of social media, whatever one’s view of a ban.
Pray for wisdom for government, schools, and families as new measures are introduced.
Pray that proportionate and unobtrusive approaches to age verification can be developed.

Pray for transition and wellbeing

Pray that any changes would be implemented clearly, fairly, and for the genuine benefit of young people.
Pray that this moment would contribute to healthier rhythms of life for children and teenagers.

Pray for parents and young people

Pray that parents would be supported and equipped in navigating this new landscape.
Pray that young people would flourish in relationships, creativity, learning, sport, and real-world community.

Pray for positive alternatives

Pray for renewed investment in spaces that support young people’s wellbeing—homes, schools, youth work, churches, and the arts.
Pray that this moment would encourage a wider cultural shift towards healthier patterns of life and connection.

Safeguarding, Justice and Renewal

Bible verse:
“Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honours God... Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people.” (Proverbs 14:31-34, NIV)

Recent comments from Baroness Casey have renewed concerns about the treatment of survivors of grooming gangs and whether lessons from past failures have been fully learned. As Christians, we should pray for justice, compassion, and wisdom for those entrusted with protecting vulnerable people.

Pray for survivors

Pray for healing, comfort, and restoration for those who have suffered abuse and exploitation.
Pray that survivors would receive appropriate support, protection, and care.
Pray that many would come to know the hope and healing found in Christ.

Pray for institutions and communities

Pray for wisdom for those in government, policing, social care, education, and other agencies as they seek to safeguard children.
Pray that any remaining failures in systems and processes would be identified and addressed.
Pray for communities marked by compassion, vigilance, and care for the vulnerable.

Pray for justice and renewal

Pray that offenders would be prevented from causing further harm and, where possible, brought to genuine repentance.
Pray for wisdom and courage for those responsible for pursuing justice.
Pray that our nation would grow in righteousness, truth, and concern for those most at risk.
