ACT Prayer Points

Week Commencing 7th June

"Whoever scorns instruction will pay for it, but whoever respects a command is rewarded. The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life..." (Proverbs 13:13–15, NIV)

Let's pray about the use of Artificial Intelligence in Education

AI and SEND Support

Updated government guidance allows schools to use AI to help draft support plans and resources for pupils with SEND, while emphasising the need for caution, especially around pupil data and statutory documents.

Pray:

  • That schools would use AI wisely and responsibly, protecting sensitive pupil information.
  • That pupils with SEND would receive personalised support and not be reduced to generic solutions.
  • That school leaders would exercise discernment as they adopt new technologies.

AI and Accessibility

Schools are increasingly using AI to translate learning materials for pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Pray:

  • That language barriers would not prevent pupils from flourishing in their education.
  • That teachers would have the time, wisdom and support needed to use these tools effectively.
  • That schools would continue to value accuracy, understanding and inclusion.

AI in School Administration

The updated guidance suggests AI can assist with policy reviews, risk assessments and administrative tasks, while making clear that responsibility must remain with school leaders.

Pray:

  • That school leaders would be equipped to use AI appropriately without neglecting professional judgment.
  • That safeguarding and pupil welfare would remain at the heart of decision-making.
  • That administrative efficiencies would create more time for serving pupils and staff well.

AI and Learning

The guidance highlights concerns that pupils may become over-reliant on AI, weakening their own thinking and learning.

Pray:

  • That young people would develop wisdom, creativity and critical thinking rather than dependence on technology.
  • That teachers would be able to encourage genuine learning and academic integrity.
  • That schools would find effective ways to manage the opportunities and challenges that AI presents.
