Prayer Points

Week Commencing 22nd February

“Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.”
— Psalm 127:3 (NIV)

“Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! … Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold…”
— Psalm 8:1–2 (NIV)

Behaviour in Schools

Recent reports suggest schools are increasing consistency, rigour and predictability in behaviour policies, rewarding good conduct, and reframing detentions as opportunities for reflection.

Pray:

  • That schools would build calm, ordered cultures marked by consistency and wisdom.

  • That behaviour standards would be fair, effective, and rooted in care for pupils’ wellbeing.

  • That preventative approaches would reduce disruption and support flourishing classrooms.

  • That leaders would balance firmness with compassion, especially where home circumstances are complex.

  • For pupils’ hearts to be transformed — that many would come to know Christ, the true source of lasting change.

SEND Reform

The government has announced significant reforms to SEND provision in England. By 2035, Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) will be reserved for the most complex needs, with pupils receiving either “Targeted” mainstream support or “Specialist” provision. Reassessments will begin from 2029 at key transition points.

Pray:

  • For wisdom for policymakers as reforms are implemented.

  • That vulnerable children would not be overlooked in efforts to manage costs.

  • For clarity and fairness in reassessments.

  • For teachers and school leaders navigating uncertainty and increased pressure.

Good news on the puberty blocker trial

A clinical trial into puberty-blocking drugs for children questioning their gender has been paused following safety concerns raised by the MHRA. Give thanks!

Pray:

  • That children’s safety and long-term wellbeing would be prioritised.

  • For integrity, transparency and caution in medical decision-making.

  • For schools supporting gender-questioning pupils — that truth and compassion would walk together.
