“The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases.”
“A person may think their own ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart. To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.”
Proverbs 21:1–3
IncludEd Conference: Get Inclusion Ready
As schools across the country seek to understand the new Ofsted framework, many are asking the same question: Are we ready to be examined on inclusion?
The updated framework places a stronger emphasis on inclusion, calling schools to think beyond pupils with SEND or those eligible for pupil premium. It also highlights children previously known to social care and “all pupils who may face other barriers to learning or wellbeing,” including those who share a protected characteristic.
This is no small task. As The Difference charity — which runs the IncludEd programme — points out, vulnerability can’t always be identified through the data schools already hold. There is a growing need for wisdom, compassion, and discernment in understanding and supporting every child.
Prayer Points
-
Pray for wisdom and guidance for those in government shaping policies on inclusion. Ask that the Holy Spirit would move in their hearts, turning them towards God’s righteousness and truth.
-
Pray for all key contributors to this national conversation — that they would be directed by the Holy Spirit, whether they yet know Him or not.
-
Pray for Christians in government and education, that they would stand firm in faith and not shrink back from the truth of the Gospel:
“But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.”
“But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.”
(Hebrews 10:38–39, NIV) -
Pray for God’s protection over believers in positions of influence — that the Lord would shield them and their families from backlash or hostility because of their faith and values:
“In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.”
(2 Timothy 3:12, NIV) -
Pray for the next generation. Ask that schools would be places where children — including those with SEND, those eligible for pupil premium, those known to social care, and those facing any barrier to learning or wellbeing — might encounter the love and truth of Christ.
Pray that the Gospel would reach their hearts early in life, and that Christian staff and volunteers would have wisdom and courage to share it faithfully.
