ACT PRAYER POINTS
WEEK COMMENCING 20TH SEPTEMBER
“Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.”
Luke 18:1 NIV
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”
Isaiah 40:29 NIV
1. Schools and finances
Pray for schools as they manage tight budgets, staffing pressures and competing demands. Ask God to provide what they need to care well for children and young people.
2. Teachers and school staff
Pray for teachers, teaching assistants, leaders and support staff. Ask God to give them wisdom, patience, energy and renewed strength as they serve.
3. Children and families facing financial hardship
Pray for families struggling financially. As free-school-meal provision expands, pray that no child goes hungry and that schools are able to identify and support families in need.
4. Healthy food in schools
Pray for the implementation of new school food standards. Ask God to help schools provide nutritious meals that support children’s health, concentration and learning.
5. Parents and families
Pray for parents and carers as they support their children’s education. Ask God to give them wisdom and help schools and families work well together.
6. GCSE reform
From 2029, new vocational GCSEs are expected to be introduced alongside academic subjects, including areas such as construction, business and child development. Pray for wisdom for those developing and implementing these qualifications, and for schools to have the teachers and resources needed to deliver them well. Pray that young people will have opportunities to develop their gifts and pursue meaningful pathways beyond school.
7. The next generation
Pray that God would raise up a generation of children and young people who are wise, compassionate, disciplined and courageous. Pray that our schools would be places of safety, truth, hope and opportunity, where pupils can grow in both knowledge and character.
